Clara Catherine Barth was born on March 18, 1885 in Pleasant Township to Valentine and Mary Stoskoph Barth. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s in Locust. Clara received her education in rural schools.

On January 7, 1903 she was united in marriage to Michael Barth in Canoe Township. They became the parents of 13 children – 6 of whom survive; Violet Day and Iowa Riley of Vallejo, California; Lorena Ellingson and Deloris Breeser of Decorah; Earl who lives in Highlandville; and Floyd who lives in New Albin. Clara lived all her life in the Decorah area.

She passed away on Thursday, August 10th, at the age of 104.

She is survived by her six children, 30 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Michael, her brother Sam, and four sisters; Lenna, Hattie Finholt, Pearl and Gusta Peterson, and seven children; Oliver, Telford, Orlando, Elsie Hanson, Doris Gulrud, Vera Dinger, and Melba Fugman.
