Lucille J. Wendling was born December 30, 1916 to Ole A. and Isabell (Usgaard) Anderson at home in Pleasant Township. She attended country school in Pleasant Township. Lucille married Howard P. Wendling at St. John's Lutheran Church on May 27. 1948.
Lucille and Howard purchased their farm from his father in 1948. The farm is now in the Fifth Generation. As a farm wife, she was a very involved partner in the farm, and very active in all aspects of the farm's operations. She lived on the farm until June 1999, when she moved to Green Lea Manor in Mabel, MN. Then in June 2000; she moved into Barthell Eastern Star Nursing Home in Decorah.
She was very active at St. John's Lutheran Church. She was a Sunday School Teacher for many years, active in the Afternoon Circle and Ladies Aid, and sang in the Church Choir.
For many years she donated her time and worked with the American Cancer Society Drive.
Lucille loved her grandchildren. Her hobby was scrapbooks; she has 60 years worth of them. She also crocheted, did a lot of canning, and was known for her pecan pies. She collected antiques for many years.
Lucille is survived by her two children son Jon and wife Mary, daughter Jeanett Hansen and husband Tom; four grandchildren John, Jake and Jenny Wendling and Addie Hansen. Two brothers Palmer Anderson and wife June and Richard Anderson and wife Elaine all of Decorah.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Howard.
