June Anderson, age 89, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Friday, May 20, 2011, at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah, Iowa, following a long illness.

June Helma (Barth) Anderson was born on June 16, 1921, the daughter of Roy & Nellie (Buer) Barth, near Locust, IA. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Locust and confirmed on June 23, 1935. June attended country school and graduated from Decorah High School. She married Palmer Anderson on April 7, 1940, at St. John's Lutheran Church. They lived near the Springwater area for the first two years of their marriage. After Palmer returned from the service, they purchased a farm north of Locust, where they farmed for twenty-five years. June worked in the kitchen and then as a secretary at the North Winneshiek School until 1966. Since sewing came naturally for June, she started her own drapery business in her home. In 1971, they moved into Decorah and she operated her business until 1986. June then worked for a fabric store and at Elaine's Dress Shop. Even after retirement, they both kept busy doing volunteer work. Palmer and June entered Aase Haugen Nursing Home in 2004. June was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Locust.

June's survivors include her daughter: Wanda (John) Lillegraven, Decorah, IA. One grandson: Paul (Nicki) Lillegraven, Decorah, IA. Two great grandchildren: McKinley and Anderson "Andy" Lillegraven. One brother-in-law: Richard (Elaine) Anderson, Decorah, IA, along with many nieces and nephews.

June was preceded in death by her parents: Roy & Nellie Barth. Her husband: Palmer Anderson on December 5, 2008. One brother: Grant (Vivian) Barth. One sister: Rosemar (Glen) Rilling. One sister-in-law: Lucille (Howard) Wendling. Two nephews: Otis & Gary Barth. Her father and mother-in-law: Ole & Isabell Anderson
