Funeral services for Herbie L. Schweinefus, age 72, of Ossian, Iowa, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at Ossian Lutheran Church with burial in the Stavanger Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Ossian, Iowa. Schmitz Funeral Home of Ossian is handling the arrangements.

Herbie L. Schweinefus, son of Henry and Laura (Kloster) Schweinefus, was born November 4, 1911 in Dover Township, Fayette County, Iowa. He died Monday afternoon, February 27, 1984 at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Lois Ann Schweinefus, and his sister, Etheleen Larson.

Herbie is survived by his wife, the former Hazel Hexom; 2 sons, Conley (JoAnn) Schweinefus of Hiawatha, Iowa, and DuWayne (Georgiann) Schweinefus of Ossian, Iowa, 3 daughters, Janice (Dwight) Sorenson and Suzan (Curtis) Brown, both of Hiawatha, Iowa, and Nancy (Mark) Scheidel of Ossian, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren in addition to nieces and nephews.
