Funeral services Rev. Wilton. H. "Bill" Sinning, age 86, of Corning, Iowa, and former pastor for the Frankville, Iowa and Rossville, Iowa Presbyterian churches, were held Wednesday, February 19 at the Presbyterian Church in Corning with Pastor Ken Rummer officiating. Burial was in the Frankville Cemetery in Frankville, Iowa on Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ted Sperduto conducting the graveside service. The Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service of Corning assisted the family with arrangements.

Wilton H. "Bill" Sinning, son of Henry F. and Bertha (Lubbers) Sinning, was born February 26, 1916 at Grundy Center, Iowa. He grew up in Kamrar, Iowa and graduated from Webster City High School with the Class of 1933. He attended Buena Vista College and the University of Dubuque, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He attended the University of Dubuque Seminary from 1936 to 1939 and was ordained. On June 14, 1944 he married Jean Margaret Brandt in Frankville, Iowa. They became the parents of 4 children.

Bill served as pastor for the Frankville, Rossville, Armstrong, Corning, and Mt. Zion, Iowa churches, and Emory, South Dakota Prebyterian Church. After retirement, he served as Interim Pastor in Creston, Iowa and Adair, Iowa. Bill and Jean served as Volunteers in Missions through the Presbyterian church in Alaska, Utah, Arizona, New York, and Florida.

Bill served as mayor of Corning, Iowa from 1968 to 1972. He was a member of the Corning Rotary, Dubuque University Alumni, Stated Clerk and Treasurer of Corning Presbytery from 1956-1959, of SW Iowa from 1959 to 1977, of the Des Moines Presbytery in 1978; Synod Vice Moderator in 1954, Chairman of Synod Vocation Department from 1969 to 1972, Synod Council from 1957 to 1972 and Synod Board of College Visitors from 1967 to 1971. He received the Paul Harris Fellow Award in 1993 and the Dubuque University Alumni Service to the Community Award.

Rev. Wilton H. "Bill" Sinning died Sunday, February 16, 2003 at the Corning Nursing and Rehab Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Mark Sinning, and two brothers, Carl Sinning and Norval Sinning.

Rev. Wilton Sinning is survived by his wife, Jean of Corning; 2 daughters, Diane (David) Bradley of Danville, California, and Judy (Michael) Storin of Aurora, Colorado, and 1 son, David (Jenny Boswell) Sinning of Tuttle, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren, Scott Bradley, Jill Bradley, Joel Storin, Carrie Storin, Ben Storin, and Kellen Sinning; 2 sisters, Mildred (Lloyd) Fonken of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, and Marjorie Sinning of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Elinor Sinning of Rudd, Iowa.
