Funeral services for Ruth Marie Allen, age 82, of Waukon, Iowa, and formerly of Frankville, Iowa, were held at 11:00 a.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. Rev. Steve Oden officiated. Burial was in the Frankville Cemetery in Frankville, Iowa. Honorary casketbearers were her grandchildren.

Ruth Marie, daughter of Halvor and Maud (Van Wey) Myren, was born on February 9, 1929 in Decorah, Iowa. She attended area schools and graduated from Postville High School in Postville, Iowa. On April 15, 1946 she married Leslie Eugene Allen in Waukon, Iowa. She was a member of New Life Christian Church and a regular member of their weekly prayer teams. As an act of obedience to scripture, she partook of Christian Water Baptism on August 25, 2004. For many years she worked as an aide at the nursing home in Postville, Iowa. As a volunteer for Hospice, Ruth received an award for Hospice Volunteer of the Year. Ruth enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and picnicking with her family as well as organizing the annual family reunion. She was interested in family genealogy, especially since her father migrated from Norway to America, she wanted to learn all about her ancestry.

Ruth Marie Allen entered eternal life on Monday, September 12, 2011 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leslie, who died January 9, 1987, her granddaughter Jennie Mahr, her grandson David Jedele, her great-granddaughter Carly Larson and 4 brothers, Upton Peck, Roland Peck, Harley Myren, and Howard Myren.

Ruth is survived by her six children: Sonya (Bob) Jedele of Kalona, Iowa, Mary Martin of Waukon, Iowa, Duane (Barbara) Allen of North English, Iowa, Doyle (Terrie) Allen of Postville, Iowa, Lanette Burroughs of Hazleton, Iowa, and Darwin (Tammi) Allen of San Mateo, California; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
