Funeral services for Ruth Winkie, age 84, of Decorah, Iowa were held at 11 a.m. at Decorah Lutheran Church with Rev. James Glesne officiating. Burial was in the Decorah Lutheran Church Cemetery. Casket bearers were Robert Stuckman, Victor Stuckman, Richard Stuckman, John "Jack" Boehm, ___Blunt, and Norman Dickman.

Ruth, daughter of Charles and Mary (Stuckman) Klepper, was born in Ludlow Township, Allamakee County, Iowa on March 25, 1908. She was baptized on August 25, 1909 and confirmed on April 5, 1925 at the Salem Reformed Church in rural Waukon, Iowa in Ludlow Township. She attended the rural Ludlow school. On December 15, 1932 she married Martin Winkie at Waukon, Iowa. In 1933 they owned and operated the Winkie's Clover Farm Grocery Store in Decorah, Iowa for over 27 years and for eight years they operated the Cremee Freeze Drive-In (the present day Whippy Dip) also in Decorah, Iowa. Ruth had played the organ at the Salem Reformed Church for many years. She has been a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church of 50 years where she belonged to the Mary Circle and was a long time member of the Wayside Garden Club. Since February 20, 1991 Ruth has been a resident of the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, Iowa.

Ruth Winkie died at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah, Iowa on December 25, 1993. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Martin, her son Darrell (Jolayne) Winkie of Decorah, Iowa, a granddaughter, Kimberly Winkie of Orlando, Florida and a grandson, David Winkie of Decorah, Iowa.
