Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Wesley Lange Snitker were held Thursday, August 30 at 1:30 p.m. at Frankville Presbyterian Church. The Rev. James Elvig officiated. Burial was in the Frankville Cemetery with Schutte Funeral Service of Postville, Iowa in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were Leonard Crawford, Harold Koth, Leslie Laterman, Wayne Brandt, Roger Sampson, and Ted Feickert.
Wesley Lange Snitker, son of Herman and Emma (Lange) Snitker, was born February 11, 1918 in Ludlow Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. He attended rural school in Ludlow Township. On June 17, 1938 he and Marie Hangartner were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He had worked for Cresco Rendering and Hygrade Food Products in Postville, Iowa before his retirement. On September 17, 1965 he married Emma Bechtel in Frankville, Iowa. He was a member of Frankville Presbyterian Church and the Frankville Fire Department.
Wesley Lange Snitker died Monday, August 27, 1990 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marie; a daughter, Janet Larson, a son Gorman Snitker; and 2 brothers, Roland Snitker and Raymond Snitker.
He is survived by his wife Emma; 5 sons, Gary Snitker of Cody, Wyoming, Gale Snitker of Belle, Missouri, Grant Snitker of Waukon, Iowa, Greg Snitker of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Gordon Snitker of Decorah, Iowa; 6 daughters, Judy Barnhouse and Karla Eldridge, both of Marion, Iowa, Kathy Vaupel of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Karen Ashbacher and Sandy Felk, both of Decorah, Iowa and Patti Hughes of Postville, Iowa; a stepson, Roger Bechtel of Postville, Iowa and 2 step-daughters, Lucille Burr of Cresco, Iowa and Evelyn Gray of Waukon, Iowa; 31 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren; a brother Willard Snitker of Postville, Iowa and 2 sisters, Lucille Ludeking of Waukon, Iowa and Rebecca Hendrickson of McGregor, Iowa.
