Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Ida C. Johnson, age 89, of Decorah, Iowa were held Thursday, April 26 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Decorah, Iowa. The Rev. Glenn Kappelmann officiated and b urial was in the Lutheran Cemetery. French and Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, Iowa was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Ronald Vick, Darrell Vick, Kenneth Johnson, Raymond Johnson, Wendel Johnson, and Connie McClury.
Ida Caroline, daughter of Ole and Maria (Ramsey) Lee, was born November 18, 1900 in Ossian, Iowa. She was educated in the rural Winneshiek County Schools. On December 16, 1920 she was united in marriage with J. Albert Johnson. She farmed with her husband most of her married life in Winneshiek and Allamakee Counties, until they moved to Decorah in 1942 where she was employed as a cook at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital. Ida was a member of the First Lutheran Church where she was a circle member, a member of the Senior Citizens and also of the V.F. W. Auxiliary.
Ida died Monday, April 23, 1990 at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband who died May 31, 1965; a son Kenneth Johnson who died in 1972; 2 grandsons, Larry McClury and Carl Johnson; 2 sisters, a half-sister, and 6 half-brothers.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Mildred Vick of Decorah, Iowa and Ruth McClury of Viroqua, Wisconsin; 4 sons, Gordon Johnson of Marion, Iowa, Abner Johnson of Montgomery City, Missouri, Hartley Johnson and Donald Johnson, both of Decorah, Iowa; 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; a brother Melvin Lee of Milton, Florida; and a sister, Elsie Schlinkert of Decorah, Iowa.
