Funeral services for retired Decorah, Iowa area farmer Thorvald Nordsven, age 100, were held today, Wednesday, May 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Aase Haugen Home with Pastor Kristen Kvamme officiating. Fjelstul Funeral Home of Decorah, Iowa was in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be in the Glenwood East Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Lester Bruvold, Donald Hanson, Hayward Evenrud, Raymond Kvamme, Vincent Haas, and Vernon Rovang.

Thorvald Nordsven was born February 13, 1891 in Toten, Norway, where he received his education. He came to the United States in 1912 and made his home with Peder and Johanna Hanson in Glenwood Township. He worked on a farm and also farmed with a neighbor. He served in the U.S. Army from 1916-1917 and was stationed in France. On November 29, 1921 he and Ruby Evenrud were married. She died September 26, 1978. He was a member of the Glenwood Lutheran Church and the American Legion.

Thorvald died Saturday, May 11, 1991 at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, Iowa. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters, all who were living in Norway at the time of their deaths.

Surviving are a cousin, Howard Hanson of Decorah, Iowa and several nieces and nephews, who are living in Norway.
