Martin Evenson, age 82, died on Monday morning, November 11, 1991 at the Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union, Iowa. Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 14 at the Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Ossian, Iowa at 11:00 a.m. with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Wayne Ellingson officiated. Casket bearers were Kenny Ney, Arthur Tangen, Wayne Quass, Lyle Ney, Vernon Lofte, and Kermit Anfinson. Becker-Milnes Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Martin B. Evenson was born the son of Thore and Ellen (Sampson) Evenson on October 15, 1909 in Dover Township of Fayette County, Iowa. He was baptized November 28, 1909 and confirmed November 2, 1924 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Eldorado, Iowa. He received his education at the West Union and Dover Township No. 3 schools. He farmed and worked in the stone quarry at Fayette for many years and also did timber work. He continued to work up until the time of his death following a sudden illness. He was a member of the Stavanger Lutheran Church of rural Ossian, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by one brother, Edwin Evenson of Fayette, Iowa and many cousins.
