Geneva Waters, age 94, a resident of the Meth-wick Community, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died there Saturday, September 28, 1996, after a lingering illness. Services will be Tuesday, October 1 at the Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah, Iowa. Burial will be in the Frankville Cemetery, Frankville, Iowa.

Geneva was born October 6, 1901 in Ludlow Township, Allamakee County, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Herbert and Martha (Jenkins) Waters of Postville, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Postville and Waukon, Iowa. She received her education at the State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls (now University of Northern Iowa) and completed her master's degree at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. After graduating with a teaching degree, she taught in Shellsburg, Iowa, many years in Springville, Iowa, Postville, Iowa, and Waukon, Iowa. She was a dedicated teacher to each student and took a great interest in their successes in life.

Miss Waters moved to Decorah, Iowa with her sister, Ruth, in 1965. She was active in the United Methodist Church and the UMW. She was also a very active member of Porter House, the Winneshiek County Historical Society and enjoyed other community activities. She resided in the Meth-Wick Community for the past 12 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, and her sister, Ruth Catherine Waters who died May 4, 1977.

She is survived by several Waters and Jenkins cousins. A special cousin Leone Merchant of Vinton, Iowa cared for her needs over the years and she enjoyed many gatherings with Leone's family. Darrel Waters, a cousin from Rochester, Minnesota was also a special visitor of hers while living in Decorah, Iowa. She will be greatly missed by the entire family.
