Verl Barker
Verl Albert Barker, 86, of Frankville died Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral Services were held Monday, May 2 at Frankville Presbyterian Church in Frankville. Pastor Paul Snyder officiated. Burial followed in the Frankville Cemetery in Frankville.
He was born July 15, 1924 at Sand Cove in Allamakee County, near New Albin, to Herman Charles and America Jane (Smith) Barker. Verl and his family lived on a farm south of Frankville and attended Frankville School. Verl farmed for many years in rural Frankville and was also a handyman. He was a longtime member of the Frankville Presbyterian Church. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Rose Barker; and his nieces and nephews.
Verl was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Frances Wallace, Thelma Barker, and Beulah Barker in infancy; two brothers, Warren Barker, and Lloyd Barker in infancy; one brother-in-law, Everett Wallace; and one nephew, Keith Wallace.
