Haefner Rites

William Heaffner (sic), son of Charles and Marie Haefner, was born April 2, 1861 at Giard and departed this life May 30, 1949 at Cedar Rapids.

He was united in marriage to Etta Bieckel January 30, 1899 at Froelich. To this union six children were born, who are left to mourn the loss of their father.

He operated the general store in Castalia 45 years and was a member of the Methodist church.

His wife passed away in 1947.

Surviving are six children: Earl W. of Dayton, Ohio; Ralph C. of Chicago, Illinois; John W. of Marshalltown; Mrs. Lewis R. Nelson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Mrs. L. W. Anderson of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Earl A. Thies of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at the United Brethern church Thursday, June 2, in Castalia with services conducted by Rev. L. L. Martin. Burial was at Castalia.
