Morton Arnold Stee
Funeral services for Morton Arnold Stee of Decorah were held Wednesday, Oct. 20 at Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Castalia.
Morton Stee was born Dec. 9, 1916, near Ossian, the son of Melvin and Ellen (Hegland) Stee. He died at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital Oct. 17 after a lingering illness.
He was baptized and confirmed at the Ossian Lutheran Church. As a child Morton moved with his family to Castalia where he spent the early years of his life and attended Castalia public schools.
He was graduated by Postville High School in 1934 and also attended business college in Cedar Rapids.
He was a self-employed painter and also had worked at the Decorah Newspapers, K and S Super Valu, A. R. Coffeen Construction Co., Winneshiek County Coop. and Clay Equipment in Cedar Falls.
He married Maythel Limbeck May 12, 1936 and they had two sons and eight daughters.
Surviving him are his wife, Maythel, his son, Robert Stee of Calmar; daughters, Mrs. Calvin (Sharon) Birch of Decorah, Mrs. Tom (Janet) Stahr of Hawkeye, Mrs. Gaylord (Barbara) Osmundson of West Branch, Mrs. Carmen (Linda) Oyloe of Vinton, Mrs. Tony (Doris) Fuller of Oelwein, Debbie Schulte of Decorah and Mrs. Bruce (Shirley) Langland of Calmar; brother, Harlan Stee of Castalia and sister, Mrs. Edwin (Anna) Engelhardt of Castalia; and 16 grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son and three brothers.
