Eliza's obituary. Mrs. John Drake Dies In South Dakota

Mrs. John Drake, 91, passed away at her home in Florence, S.D., on Wednesday of last week, following an extended illness.

The former Eliza Darrington, she was born at Belvidere, Ill. When a young child, she came with her parents, the late Joseph and Fanny Darrington to Winneshiek county, settling on a farm east of Hesper. She remained in that vicinity until 1880, when she went to South Dakota, where she lived the greater part of her life.

Survivors are one son, Bert and a daughter, Francis, 15 grandchildren, 1 sister, Mrs. Flo Hackett, Newhouse, Minn., two brothers, John Darrington of Minneapolis and Frank Darrington of Mabel. Her husband, three daughters, two sisters and 5 brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted at Florence on Sunday, Aug. 8, at the Helgen Lutheran church. Interment was made in the Dexter cemetery.
