Dale McCormick, age 59, of Decorah died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the Barthell Eastern Star Home in Decorah. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Decorah Saturday, November 13, with Rev. Phillip Gibbs officiating. Interment was at St. Benedict’s Catholic Cemetery, Decorah.
Dale Allen McCormick was born September 29, 1951, the son of Joseph and Adeline (Waller) McCormick, in Decorah. Dale attended and graduated from Decorah High School in 1969. He started working in the fall of 1969 at the new CamCar factory, where he was a key player in the development and growth of that plant as a premier fastener supplier to customers in all markets globally. Dale’s calling was Sales Management, where he excelled as a mentor to the sales force.
The electronics industry was his specialty and he traveled extensively around the world to recruit, train and advise the sales force and factories in addition to successfully selling specialty fasteners to customers including Seagate, Western Digital, Motorola, RIM, and Nokia. His loss is being mourned by competitors, colleagues and customers around the world. At the time of his death, Dale served as Vice President of Global Electronics at Infastech.
Dale was united in marriage to Jule McCabe September 16, 2004 in Harpers Ferry. Dale was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and Oneota Golf Course. He enjoyed golfing, spending time on the river, collecting cars and being with his family and friends.Dale’s survivors include his wife, Jule McCabe of Decorah; one daughter, Erin McCormick of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Carol (Carsten) Quam and Joyce Gates, both of Decorah; two brothers, Donald (Pat) McCormick of Decorah and Kenneth (Mary) McCormick of Clear Lake; his father- and mother-in-law, LeRoy and Marcella McCabe of Waukon; four sisters-in-law, Helen McCormick of Decorah, Jean (Pearse) Derrig of LaCrosse, WI, Joann (Chris Hirayama) McCabe of Hilo, HI, and Nancy McCabe of Denver, CO; two brothers-in-law, Bill (Jan) McCabe of Kingwood, TX and Dan (Renee) McCabe of Augusta, GA; three aunts, Mary Waller of Poynette, WI, and Sister Mary Dorothy McCormick and Sister Mary Louis McCormick, both of Dubuque; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his son, Kyle McCormick, May 26, 2003; his parents, Joseph McCormick, August 27, 1965, and Adeline McCormick, January 12, 2007; one brother, Jerry McCormick, in 1992; one nephew, Terry McCormick, in 1978; one brother-in-law, Lyle McCabe, in October 2004; and one sister-in-law, Mary McCabe, in June 1996.
Everyone should be so blessed to know a “Dale” in their lifetime.
Casketbearers were Dale Headington, Ron Humpal, Vic Pinckney, Alan Ellickson, Rob Burgmeier, Dennis Varhol, Mike Quam, and Randy Stortz. Schluter-Balik Funeral Home of Decorah assisted the family with arrangements.The Waukon Standard, November 17, 2010
