Emmet Dreier

Funeral services for Emmet Dreier were held Friday, June 6 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Emmet Frederick Dreier, son of Fred and Wilamina (Dreier) Dreier, was born May 9, 1910 in Allamakee County near Postville. He died June 3, 1986 in Community Memorial Hospital, Postville.

He attended the Oak Hill School. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.

August 25, 1930 he married Esther Thompson at Castalia. They farmed in this area for 38 years, moving to Postville in 1968. They are the parents of 5 children.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Lori Dreier, a brother, Albert and three step-sisters, Ida Aumann, Emma Fischer, and Louise Schultz.

Surviving are his wife, Esther, three sons: Neil (Rose) Dreier of Durand, IL., Dennis (Joann) Dreier of Postville and Curtis (Roberta) Dreier of Postville; two daughters: Nadine (Harlan) Koester of Waukon and Wanda (Richard) Pape of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Herbert of Postville and a sister, Elsie Fischer of Janesville, Wisconsin.

Casket bearers were John Rothmeyer, Gerald Vagts, Emil Schultz, Jr., Noel Cook, Duane Thompson and William Livingood.
