Funeral services for Herbert Dreier were held Friday, March 25, 1988 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery

Herbert George Arnold Dreier, son of Fred and Wilamina (Dreier) Dreier, was born October 24, 1911 in Bloomfield Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa. He died March 21, 1988 in the home of his daughter at Eldorado, Iowa.

He was baptized December 2, 1911 and confirmed August 23, 1925 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. He attended the Oak Hill Country School. Later his family moved and he attended the Highland Country School in Post Township for the rest of his formal education.

He married Frances Erhardt on August 9, 1934 in Elgin, Iowa. The couple had 4 children. Herbert resided on the farm for 70 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Mark, granddaughter, Tammy Vagts, 3 grandchildren in infancy, 2 brothers, Albert and Emmet and 3 step-sisters, Ida Aumann, Emma Fischer and Louise Schultz.

He is survived by his wife, Frances, 3 daughters, Mary Ann (Gerald) Vagts of Eldorado, Ida (Marvin) Block and Pauline (Jim) Collins, both of Oxford, IA; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and one sister, Elsie Fischer, Janesville, WI.

Casket bearers were Eric, Lee and Scot Block, Tim and Fred Vagts and Matthew Collins.
