Funeral services for Walter Dummermuth were held Monday, April 12, 1982 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. The Rev. H. W. Wolfgram officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery at Ossian.
Walter W. Dummermuth, son of Christ and Dina (Rypestal) Dummermuth, was born May 8, 1903 near Elgin, Iowa. He died April 8, 1982 at the Barthell Eastern Star Nursing Home in Decorah, Iowa.
He was baptized and confirmed at the East Clermont Lutheran Church. He received his education in a country school near Elgin and graduated from the Elgin High School in 1924. On March 30, 1931 he was married to Edna Johnson at Minneapolis.
Dummermuth was a cattle buyer for Hygrade at Postville for many years. His hobby was raising a variety of exotic birds.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Albert, Earl Herbert, Emery and Andrew, and two sisters, Helen and Emma.
Surviving are his wife, Edna, a brother, Floyd of Cedar Rapids and a sister, Mrs. Lorenz (Mabel) Schatz of West Union.
