Funeral services were held Saturday, October 21, 1989 for Carsten "Carsey" Erlin Erickson, 65, who died Thursday, October 19, 1989 at Veterans Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Lynn Groe conducted the 11 a.m. services at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial with military graveside rites was in the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah, Iowa with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

He was born November 8, 1923 in Decorah to Carl and Edna Lynne Erickson and attended Freeport Elementary and Decorah High School. He was an aviation chief machinist's mate in the Navy from 1940 to 1946. He was Home based in Pensacola, FL. He saw some sea duty in the Carribbean. On October 24, 1982 he married Odella Hattlestad Keck at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. A lifetime resident of northeast Iowa, he had been employed as a bulk oil delivery truck driver in the Decorah area, worked for City Laundry Dry Cleaners in Oelwein, Iowa and worked for Interstate Power Company for 33 years, mostly in Ossian and Waukon. He had lived in Waukon since 1982.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Waukon VFW, Ossian American Legion, and a charter member of the the Decorah Kilties. He once marched with the Kilties in a Rose Bowl Parade.

Surviving are his wife, a son Paul Erickson of Philadelphia, PA; three step-children, Mrs. Richard (Jan) Helgeson of Decorah, Mrs. Dennis (Linda) DeBuhr of Waukon, and Bill Keck of Bettendorf, Iowa; two grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Neil (Connie) Casey of Stillwater, MN.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert, and a step-daughter, Marlene Ottesen. Casket bearers were Don Rodenkirk, Art Hemesath, Dennis DeBuhr, Richard Helgeson, Terry Helgeson, and Mark Casey.Honorary casket bearers were Interstate Power Company co-workers.
