Mrs. Evelyn Olson, 82, Caledonia, formerly of Mabel, died Saturday,, Jan. 30, at the Caledonia Health Care center.

The former Evelyn Welch, she was born Feb. 4, 1905, at Mabel, the daughter of David J. and Jennie (Allen) Welch. She attended Mabel High School.

On March 7, 1923, she married Oscar J. Olson at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Preston. He died July 14, 1974.

She and her husband operated a restaurant in Mabel. In 1946 they moved to Caledonia. She had worked at Electric Auto-Lite in La Crosse and the Redwood Cafe in Caledonia and the Caledonia Community Hospital.

Survivors are three sons, Reginald of Mankato, David of Caledonia, Charles of Sophia, NC; four daughters, Maxine Tingesdahl of Mabel, Juanita Michelsen of Caledonia, Sheryl Farnsworth of Reno, NV, Lolita St. Mary of Grinnell, IA; 30 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances, a grandson, a brother and a sister.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 1, at 10:30 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Caledonia. The Revs. Rolf T. Storlie and Kent A. Otterman officiated. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Caledonia.
