1 July 1941. Esten Klegseth answered death's call on Tuesday afternoon, July first, without any perceptive previous illness. Lying down to rest after a day's work, which undoubtedly strained his strength to the breaking point, he was soon ushered from time into eternity. Esten Klegseth's parents were Esten and Ingeborg Klegseth of Selbu, Throndheim, Norway, where Esten was baptized and confirmed. When 17 years old Esten came to America and made his home near Hesper, Iowa. On the second day of June, 1892, he was joined in marriage to Miss Beret Aasum.. Their first home was two miles north of Mabel, where they lived two years. Intending to make farming their livelihood, they purchased a farm 3 miles south of Hesper, Iowa, and about six miles south of Mabel, where they lived until 1929 when they retired and moved to the village of Hesper, where occurred the death of Mr. Klegseth.
The following children were born to them; Albert Klegseth, Hesper, Iowa; Ida (Mrs. Edwin Erickson) of Decorah, Iowa; Olga (Mrs. Martin Folstad) of Mabel; Emma (Mrs. Myron Welch) of Decorah, Iowa; Melissa (Mrs. Lawrence Korsness) of Mabel.
