Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept, 12, at 2 P.M. at the Scheie Lutheran church for Elmer J. Folstad, 69, who died at his home in Spring Grove Monday afternoon, Sept, 9, of an apparent heart attack. The Rev. Jay Kamrath officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was born March 31, 1916, at Hesper, Ia., the son of Martin and Olga (Klegseth) Folstad. He attended the Hesper public school and was a 1935 graduate of Mabel high school.

On Jan. 27, 1950, he married Oranda Brown at the Riceford Lutheran church. They farmed in the Mabel area until retiring and moving to Spring Grove two years ago. He was member of the Scheie Lutheran church and of the Sons of Norway Lodge in Spring Grove. He was pianist and vocalist for the Cricket Band.

Survivors are his wife; four sons, Neil and Gary, both of Mabel, Alan and Michael, Spring Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Susan) Schultz, Pine Island, Minn., Mrs. James (Joanne) Subra, Rochester; 5 grandchildren; four brothers, Melvin and Arland, of Mabel, Maynard and Charles Decorah, Ia., and a sister, Mrs. Al (Beatrice) Schmitz, Caledonia.

Roble Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
