Mrs. Harold Selness, 41, rural Spring Grove, died Sunday morning at St. Mary's hospital in Rochester, of complications following surgery.

The former Helen Dahl, she was born July 17, 1925, in Hesper Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, the daughter of Bert and Caroline (Stenkjar) Dahl. She attended the rural schools of Hesper township and was graduated from Mabel High School in 1944. She was confirmed at the Hesper Lutheran church by Rev. I. Havneros.

On Nov. 9, 1947, she married Harold Selness. They have made their home on a farm in Highland township. She was a member of the Highland Lutheran church and its ALCW, and member of the ladies Auxiliary to the Joseph B. Lund Post of the American Legion at Mabel.

survivors are her husband; 8 daughters, Paula,Karen, Sunday, Barbara, Diane, Caroline, Ruth, Wendy; 8 sons, Bert, Gary, Steven, Mark, Eric, David, Rolf and Todd, all at home; five brothers, Melvin, Berner Sverre of Mabel and Arnold, Waterloo, Ia., and Maurice, Decorah, Iowa. Her parents and a brother preceded her in death. Services and burial were in the Highland Lutheran church and Cemetery.
