The Obituary for William Robinson, from the Mabel Tribune, of Jan. 19, 1899 and Decorah Republican Jan. 26, 1899 P 2 C 5
The death of Wm. Robinson which occurred last Saturday afternoon, from heart disease, is extremely sad. Mr. Robinson was a fine old gentleman, honest and kind, and greatly respected by all, and he will be missed, not only from his own fireside, but by a large number of old friends and acquaintances.
Mr. Robinson, whose farm lies three miles northeast of Mabel, had started for town with his team and sleight, when on making the turn from his lane into the highway, he was apparently stricken with heart disease and fell to the ground, among some weeds and brush. The team continued toward town, but left the road and walked near the fence. His neighbor, John Stroud, who had been at Robinson's a few minutes before, but who left the yard some time after Mr. Robinson, on reaching the road, discovered the team about sixty rods ahead, and as it was not in the road, hastened to overtake it. He then discovered that there was no driver and hastily returned, finding the unfortunate man, face down in the weeds. As life was not wholly extinct he conveyed him immediately to the house, and a messenger was dispatched for a doctor. A few minutes later however, death came, and the order was countermanded before the physician had left town.
Mr. Robinson came to his late home from Wisconsin, where he had lived for a number of years. His birth place we did not learn, though he was of pure Scotch descent. He had been married twice, his widow being from Canada. His sister, Mrs. David Welch, resides in Hesper.
The body was laid to rest in the Hesper cemetery, funeral services being held from the Friends church. The sympathy of the whole community is extended to the heartbroken wife, who in her advanced years is thus deprived of he who has so long shared with her life's joys and sorrows. May she be comforted by the knowledge that their separation, though hard to bear, is not final.

William Robinson, an old resident of Newberg township, Minn., started for Mabel on the morning of the 14th, and was soon after found unconscious at the side of the road. Before a physician could be gotten to him life was extinct. The funeral was held at the Friends’ church, in Hesper, on the 17th, Rev. Mr. Harbaugh, of the Mabel M. E. church, officiating, assisted by Dr. P. Slack and William Westgate, of Hesper. As there was a suspicion of foul play, the body was disinterred, on the 21st, and an autopsy hold by Drs. F. Worth and P Slack, of Hesper, and Dr. Cady, of Mabel. Their decision was that death resulted from natural causes. Henry McGowan, of Mason City, a cousin of Mr. Robinson, attended the funeral and remained, a guest of other relatives, until after the autopsy.
