Here is the obituary for Birdie Moore: Mrs. Birdie Moore, Mabel, dies at 95. Mabel Mrs. Birdie Moore, 95, a retired Rural Mabel farm home maker and former area teacher, died Tuesday afternoon at her home. The former Birdie Wells, she was born Sept. 13, 1886, in Newburg Townsip in Fillmore county, and graduated from Mabel High School in 1905. At the time of her death she was the oldest alumnus of the high school. After attending Winona Teachers College, she taught in rural schools in the Mabel area and in Hesper, Iowa, public schools for a number of years.
On May 18, 1922, she married Amos Moore at her parent's home in Mabel. The couple farmed in rural Kendalville, Iowa, and in rural Harmony until 1932 when they moved to rural Mabel, farming there until retiring and moving into Mabel. Mr. Moore died in November 1977.
Mrs. Moore was a member of Hesper 100 Year Club, and served as an officer of the Hesper Cemetery Association. She also was preceded in death by a brother. The funeral is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mabel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Neil Westby officiating. Burial will be in Hesper Public Cemetery.
