Mrs. Ina Darrington of Mabel dies at 86.
Mabel -- Mrs. Ina Darrington 86, a longtime Mabel resident and former area farm homemaker, died Monday evening at Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse where she had been a patient a short time.

The former Ina Golberg was born Sept. 26, 1896, in Hesper Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, and attended Hesper school. On March 14, 1917, she married Fred Darrington and the couple farmed in Hesper Township until 1942 when they moved to Mabel. Mr. Darrington died in 1966. She was a member of Hesper Lutheran Church and its ALCW.

Survivors include a son, Roger of Phoenix, Ariz; a daughter, Mrs. Odin (Barbara) Skramstad of Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Belva Welch and Mrs. Mamie Kempa, both of Mabel, and Mrs. Alice Pearson of Santa Monica, Calif.; and a brother, Victor Goldberg of La Crescent. A sister and three brothers preceded her in death.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at Hesper Lutheran Church with Rev. Marilyn Hanson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel after 2 p.m. Thursday, and at the church one hour before the service Friday.
