Robert D. Albrecht

Robert Albrecht, 72, of rural Burr Oak, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001 at his home following a long battle with cancer.

Visitation will be held (today) May 3 from 4-8 at Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 4 at 11 a.m. at Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Burr Oak.

Rev. Hans Floan officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Public Cemetery in Marengo, Illinois. Mengis Funeral Home of Mabel is handling arrangements.

Robert D. Albrecht was born Oct. 2, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Louise (Loss) Albrecht.

He married Betty Ann Goebbert Oct. 22, 1949 in Elk Grove, Illinois.

The couple lived in Arlington Heights and Marengo, Illinois, where they farmed and Robert Albrecht also worked for Culligan.

In 1977 they moved to the Burr Oak area where they continued farming until retiring in 1991.

Robert Albrecht was a member of the Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Burr Oak.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Albrecht; a daughter Linda and Charles McKee of Marengo; a son, Keith Albrecht of Rochester, Minn.; five grandchildren and two sisters, Bernice Sternola of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Ruth Croft of Melrose Park, Illinois.

Robert D. Albrecht was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Lumb and a brother, John Albrecht.
