Donald Cecil Spores

Donald Spores, 79, of Waukon, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Rev. David E. Schafer officiating.

Burial was in the Dorchester Methodist Cemetery.

Donald Cecil Spores was born August 31, 1921 in rural Lansing to James William and Martha Ann (Davis) Spores.

He grew up in the rural Lansing area of Village Creek and later moved with his family to the Dorchester area, where he lived until moving to Makee Manor in rural Waukon.

Donald Spores had been a member of Northgate Care Center since 1991.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved spending time outdoors and taking long walks in the woods. He also enjoyed getting together with his family.

Surviving Donald Spores are his sister, Alba Kudart of DECORAH; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Spores of New Albin and Luain Spores of DECORAH; and many nieces and nephews.

Donald Cecil Spores was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Harold, Roy, Glen, Spencer, Jimmy and Alfred Spores; and four sisters, Cora Spores, Blanche Schleicher, Lillian Knickerbocker and Audrey Knight.
