Violette Soles
Violette M. Soles, 94, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 2, at 10:30 a.m., at the Lutheran Home Chapel in Cedar Falls, with the Rev. Bruce Ursin of First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls officiating.
Sharon Britzman was the organist. Hymns were "The Old Rugged Cross," "How Great Thou Art" and "Blessed Assurance."
Interment was at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg. The Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home Service handled arrangements.
Violette was born Aug. 16, 1905, in Fern, the daughter of Bryon and Theresa (Juel) Soles.
She was a graduate of Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) and was a teacher for many years, both in Wellsburg and DECORAH. During Violette's 35-year tenure with Decorah Community Schools, she taught first primary in East Side and John Cline schools. More than 800 6-year-olds began their education with her guidance.
Survivors include one sister, Thora Peel of Galesburg, Illinois; and two nephews, Jack and Regina Peel of Albuquerque, N.M., and Roger and Rebecca Peel of Denver, Colo.
Violette Soles was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Vera Soles
