Marcile Perrin Reid
Marcile Perrin Reid, 86, of Decorah, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services were held Monday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Decorah, with the Rev. George Wharton officiating. The body was cremated.
Marjorie Wharton was the organist. Darla Thorland was the soloist.
Honorary bearers were Maggie Borske, Esther Bronson, Vicki Holland, Tracy Wuest Svestka, Sara Eckheart Wagner, Lisa Portinga, Warren G. and Jan Berg, Douglas and Georgiann Eckheart, and Reginald and Jeri Laursen.
Burial will take place at Omaha, Neb. The Fjelstul Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Marcile Louise Isaacson was born Aug. 6, 1913, in Scandia, Kansas, the daughter of August Emil Isaacson and Mae Ruth (Johnson) Isaacson.
She graduated from Scandia (Kan.) High School at the age of 16 in 1929, and lived in Scandia through 1931. She earned her registered nurse degree from Research Hospital School of Nursing in Kansas City, Mo., in 1935.
Marcile was married to Halford G. Perrin Oct. 6, 1934, in Kansas City, Mo. They lived in Kansas City until 1946. She was a homemaker. They lived in Omaha, Neb., from 1946-74. Here Marcile was a home-maker and volunteer. She served as executive director of the Nebraska Epilepsy League from 1969-74.
Halford died in 1974. Marcile moved to Decorah in 1974. She was a homemaker and an active volunteer for a number of charitable and fine arts organizations.
Marcile was married to Hale C. Reid Nov. 12,1983. He died Oct. 29, 1990.
Honors for Marcile included being a member of National Advisory Council for Developmental Disabilities, United States Health, Education and Welfare, from 1972-74.
Marcile also was active in WINS Investment Club and the Monday Club in Decorah and numerous councils and advisory committees dealing with epilepsy in Nebraska.
She also volunteered for many charitable and fine arts organizations making costumes for Omaha Community Theater, Omaha Symphony, Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, Bishop Clarkson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Omaha, Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Decorah, and Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah.
Interests and hobbies included building scale model doll houses and furnishings; antiquing; collecting cordial glasses from all over the world; playing bridge; traveling; redecorating and restoring old homes; Danish cross-stitching, making almost 200 personalized hand towels and bibs since her first stroke in 1995; Swedish culture, cooking and heritage; golf; reading, especially mysteries; and sewing.
She was a member of Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church in Omaha, Neb., and Grace Episcopal Church in Decorah. Church activities included secretary of the Bishop's Committee, Alter Guild and a licensed lay reader.
Survivors include one daughter, Christina Louise Perrin and William Moorcroft of Decorah; one daughter-in-law, Linda Swanson Perrin of Loveland, Colo.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Wesley Rae Dutta of Oak Park, Calif., Lori Ann Penin of Loveland, Colo., Janee Louise Perrin of Tucson, Ariz., Marcile Louise Moorcroft of Minneapolis, Minn., Joseph James Perrin of Fort Collins, Colo., Patrick Richard Moorcroft of Cedar Falls, Andrew William Moorcroft of Chicago, Luke Lowell Perrin of Loveland, Colo., Robert Mahood (Cheryl and three children) of Houston, Texas, Allan Mahood (Yolanda and two children) of Wimberley, Texas, James Mahood (ChenJean and two children) of Houston, Texas, and Mike Mahood of Beaumont, Texas; one sister, Alice Isaacson Clark of Grand Island, Neb.; one niece, Judith Clark Schaneman of Fulton, Mo.; and two nephews, David Staver of Bloomington, Ind., and Charles Isaacson of Shawnee, Kan.
Marcile Louise Perrin Reid was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Halford Perrin in 1974, and Hale Reid in 1990; one son, James H. Perrin in 1988; one step-daughter, Mary Dell Perrin Mahood in 1976; one brother, Emil Isaacson in 1998; and one sister, Elda Isaacson Popiel in 1994.
