Mary Kirk, 89, of Granton, Wis., died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville, Wis.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Chili, Wis., with the Rev. Joseph Henseler as celebrant.

Music will be provided by Charlotte Drescher, organist, and Rita Kiiechenbecker, soloist.

Interment will be at the Windfall Cemetery in Granton, Wis. The Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville, Wis., is handling arrangements.

Mary Lou (Elder) Kirk was born Dec. 3, 1910, in Wedowee, Ala., the daughter of James W. and Ada (Taylor) Elder. She attended schools in Alabama and Florida, and then moved to Chicago, Illinois at the age of 16.

In Chicago, she worked for Woolworth's Five and Dime Store and Olson's Rug Factory.

On March 23, 1929, she was united in marriage to Edward Abraham in Chicago.

They moved to Belvidere, Illinois, in 1939, where Mary worked for JL Clark Metal Fabricating Co. In 1951, they moved to their farm in the Granton, Wis. area.

Mary worked as a farm wife for over 30 years and also worked at the Neillsville Memorial Medical Center and Nursing Home in the housekeeping department.

She eventually retired from the Hospital and Nursing Home to care for her ailing husband. Edward died Jan. 15, 1982.

Mary was later united in marriage to Laurence Kirk on May 14, 1983, in Granton. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chili, Wis., and enjoyed reading in her spare time.

Survivors include her husband, Laurence Kirk of Granton, Wis.; one daughter, Delores "Dee" (Merlyn "Corky") Everson of DECORAH; three grandchildren, J. Ann (Gregory) Ellingson of Mountain Home, Ark., Jo (Rich) Lane of Point Mugu, Calif., and Jon Everson of DECORAH; three great grandchildren, Keisha Lane, Keinen Lane and Sydney Lunardi; and several step-children.

Mary Kirk was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Abraham; two sisters; and one brother.
