Melania Teresa Kruse
Melania Teresa Kruse, 87, of St. Lucas, died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999.
A funeral mass was held Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at the St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas, with the Rev. Raphael Ludwig as celebrant.
Casket bearers were Don Pinter Jr., Collin Pinter, Malcom Harper, David Pinter, Joe Pinter and Kris Kruse.
Burial was at the St. Luke's Cemetery with Burnham-Wood Funeral Home of West Union handling arrangements.
Melania (Kuennen) Kruse was born Dec. 22, 1911, at St. Lucas, the daughter of John H. and Theresa (Martin) Kuennen. She attended St. Luke's School.
On June 14,1939, she was united in marriage with Neal Kruse and to this union seven children were born. They farmed and lived in the St. Lucas area all their married life.
Melania was a cook at St. Luke's School. She enjoyed baking cookies for her grandchildren and playing cards. She was a member of St. Luke's Church, its Rosary Society, and Cemetery Board, as well as the American Legion Auxiliary for 41 years. She also was a Gold Star Mother.
Survivors include two sons, Don of St. Lucas, Jean (Glenda) of Oakdale, Calif.; three daughters, Helen (Mrs. Don) Pinter of FORT ATKINSON, Mary (Mrs. Tom) Karau of Marshfield, Wis., and Anne (Mrs. Dale) Olson of Bozeman, Mont.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Herman Kuennen of St. Lucas and sisters and brother-in-law Elizabeth Kuennen of New Hampton, Emma and Katherine Kuennen, both of Lawler, and Lawrence Brunch of Carroll.
