Carl Hinker

Carl Hinker, 86, of Seal Beach, Calif., and formerly of Calmar, died Dec. 13, 2000 of lung cancer.

Arrangements were handled by Rubien Funeral Home and Crematorium. He was cremated and his ashes were scattered in the ocean.

Carl T. Hinker was born in Calmar May 16, 1914, to John and Rose Houdek Hinker.

He attended St. Aloysius Grade School and graduated from Calmar High School.

He was married to the former Marjorie Evans of Bakersfield, Calif.

Carl Hinker served in the U.S. Army during World War II and remained in California after his tour of duty.

He retired from Ocean Technology in Burbank, Calif. and moved to Leisure World Retirement Area in Seal Beach, Calif.

Survivors include his wife, Majorie Hinker, two daughters, Carla and Rob Watsabough of Jackson Hole, Wyo.; and Susan Irish of Burlington, Ky.

Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Kate and Lindsey of Jackson Hole and Michael and Jennifer of Burlington, two great-grandchildren, a sister, Irma, of Seal Beach; a brother, Felix, of Lancaster, Calif., and other relatives in the Calmar and Decorah area.

Carl T. Hinker was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Daniel, Reuben and Florian Hinker.
