Nada E. Owen, 93, of Cresco, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 13, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Phillip Olson and Pastor Ginny Olson officiating.

Kathy Tollefsrud was the organist and the congregation sang the hymns "I Know of a Sleep", "Children of the Heavenly Father", "What a Friend" and "Amazing Grace".

Casket bearers were Allen, Randy, Jerome and Kiven Halweg and David, Wayne, Michael and Terry Snell.

Interment was in the Orleans Lutheran Cemetery in rural Ridgeway.

Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Nada was born Nov. 17, 1906 in Burr Oak Township in Winneshiek County, the daughter of Charles and Mabel (Masters) Pollitt.

She was baptized at Burr Oak on July 26, 1908 and confirmed at First Lutheran in Cresco on Oct. 17, 1938.

She attended a one-room country school and high school in Decorah.

She married Roy Owen on Dec. 27, 1926 in Decorah.

Ray and Nada farmed west of Ridgeway and Nada worked in the Hotel Winneshiek for about five years.

The couple moved to a farm near Cresco for 32 years, then to a farm near the Turkey River for four years.

Nada worked at the Laundromat in Cresco while they lived near Cresco.

When they retired, they purchased an acreage on the edge of Cresco.

Nada Owen was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, on March 1, 1989, and a sister, Myrtle Snell.

Survivors include her niece and nephews, Virgil Snell, Decorah; Naomi Halweg, Burr Oak, Neil Snell, Waterloo; and Robert Snell, Canton, Minn.; and great nieces and nephews.
