Pearl Oleana Klatt
Pearl Oleana Klatt, 93, of Decorah, died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999, at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m., at Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church, rural Decorah, with the Rev. Susan Debner officiating.
Connie Bolson was the organist. The Rev. Bruce Hobert was the soloist, singing "Day by Day" and "I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry." The congregation sang "God, Who Made the Earth and Heaven" and "Beautiful Savior."
Casket bearers were Steven Vick, Brent Hobert, Dan Seward, Duane Seward, Greg Seward and Jason Salaz.
Committal was at the Canoe Ridge Cemetery. The French & Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Pearl (Larson) Klatt was born Jan. 28, 1906, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Faldet) Larson of Decorah. She was baptized and confirmed at Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church.
After high school, Pearl attended Pitzes Beauty School in Waterloo, finishing there in 1935. She had her own beauty shop in Calmar for many years.
In 1964, she sold the shop but continued to work in her home until retiring in 1975. She was a lifelong resident of Winneshiek County,
Survivors include one son, Adison and Donna Vick of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Ernest Larson of Decorah; and sisters Celia Mulder of Onalaska, Wis., Norma Hobert of Charles City and Corenne Seward of Gilmore City.
Pearl Klatt was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and two sisters, Idella Hallman and Ella Anderson.
