David Moellers

David Moellers, 48, of Fort Atkinson, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at his home.

A funeral mass was held Tuesday, June 13, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, with the Rev. Msgr. Cletus Hawes officiating.

Annette Walter was the organist. Music was by Our Lady of Seven Dolors church choir and the congregation.

Lectors were Judy Busch and Jenni Shimek. Offertory gifts were presented by Ryan Skrukrud, Kathryn Quandahl and Ben Unzeitig. Mass servers were Ryan Lechtenberg, Terri Busch and Michelle Busch.

Casket bearers were Sara Moellers, Wendy Moellers, Dawn Moellers, Mike Moellers, Nathan Skrukrud, April Quandahl, Tade Kerndt and Brian Zweibohmer.

The Knights of Columbus Council No. 2073 of Ossian was in honorary attendance.

Interment was at the Our Lady of Seven Dolors Cemetery, Festina. The Schmitz Funeral Home of Ossian handled arrangements.

David John Moellers was born July 10, 1951, at the Smith Memorial Hospital in Decorah, the son of Clair arid Dorothy (Franzen) Moellers. He was baptized in his faith at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Ossian, by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. M.J. Thiltgen July 10, 1951.

In his early childhood his family moved to a farm south of Festina. David attended elementary school at St. Mary's Catholic School in Festina. He was confirmed at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church March 5,1961.

David attended De Sales Central Catholic High School in Ossian and graduated in 1969. Following graduation, he stayed on the farm with his family. He also assisted in the family business of Moellers Garage.

David was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2073, the Winneshiek County Farm Bureau arid the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed bowling, reading, card playing and rock collecting.

Survivors include his parents, Clair and Dorothy Moellers of Fort Atkinson; three brothers, Joseph and Monika Moellers of Castalia, Gary Moellers of Ossian and Daniel Moellers of Marshalltown and two sisters, Mary and Quentin Quandahl of Ossian and Ruth Skrukrud of Anchorage, Alaska.

Also surviving are the following nieces and nephews: Sara Moellers, Dawn Moellers, Wendy Moellers, Mike Moellers, Andrea (Chad) Breitsprecher, Christopher Snyder, Tracy (Tony) Gllavata, April Quandahl, Kathryn Quandahl, Beth (Rick) Altmann, Justin Skrukrud, Ryan Skrukrud, Nathan Skrukrud and Ben Unzeitig; great nieces and nephews Blake Breitsprecher, Lane Breitsprecher, Logan Breitsprecher, Austin Breitsprecher, Austin Breitsprecher, Kylie Kerndt and Hannah Altmann; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

David J. Moellers was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Helen Moellers and Joseph H. and Johanna Franzen, and a nephew, Josh Quandahl.
