Paul Bergan
Paul Martin Bergan, 57, of Minneapolis, died of pancreatic cancer at his home Friday, March 31, 2000.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 10, at 1 p.m., at the Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel. A gathering for family and friends at the Fort Snelling Officers' Club will follow.
Paul graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis, Luther College (1964), the University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas. In his second career, he taught alternative and special education. He formerly worked at the 3M Company, served as an engineering officer during the Vietnam War, and later achieved the rank of Commander in the United States Naval Reserve.
By knowing and recording his goals, Paul was able to reach many of his dreams. His talents included visual arts, writing and singing; exploring by foot and on trips; completing four marathons; enjoying literature; and supporting efforts toward sustain ability biodiversity and advocacy for children.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Eberhart; his father, Kenneth Bergan of Decorah; one daughter, Joy and Wayne Sabin of Minneapolis and their child, Teddy; one sister, Ruth and Jack Anderson of St. Louis Park, Minn.; nephews Peter, Bjorn and Benjamin; two uncles, Allard Bergan of Decorah and Herman Josendahl of Luverne, Minn.; and cousins and other relatives.
Paul Bergan was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian; grandparents Louise and Martin Bergan, and Ida and Clarence Hamre; and aunts and one
