Norval Nelson

Norval Nelson, 86, of Mabel, Minn., died Monday, April 26, 1999, at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel, Minn.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 29, at 10 a.m., at the Hesper Friends Church in Hesper, with the Rev. Keith Mardock officiating.

Burial will be in the Hesper Public Cemetery. The Mengis Funeral Home of Mabel, Minn., is handling arrangements. There will be visitation one hour prior to services at the church.

Norval was born Nov. 20 1912, in Winneshiek County, the son of Nels and Flora (Darrington) Nelson. He attended the Grindeland School in the Hesper area.

He farmed in the area until 1949, when he operated the Newhouse store. In 1951, Norval moved to Mabel, and worked for Kepp Construction in Rochester, Minn., until his retirement in 1971.

He had resided at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel since
1997.

Survivors include a sister, Nina Folkedahl of Mabel, Minn.; eight nieces and six nephews.

Norval Nelson was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters, as well as his parents.
