Mahlon Borseth

Mahlon Borseth, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, March 17, in the Veterans-Medical Center at Knoxville following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held at the Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids Monday, March 22, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Bob David officiating.

Burial was at the Shueyville Cemetery with military graveside services, by
the Solon American Legion Stinocher Post No. 460.

Mahlon was born July 10, 1919, in Decorah. He was married to Lola Quandahl Dec.12, 1939, at Decorah.

Mahlon worked at Penick & Ford Co. for 23 years before retiring.

He served with the United States Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Lola; a daughter, Jane and Jim Fencl of Solon; two sons, Roy Borseth of Cedar Rapids, and Carson and Karen Borseth of Illinois; two sisters, Barbara and Gordon Pfister, and Thelma and Walter Sweet, all of Arkansas; a brother, Edwin Borseth of Waterloo; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Mahlon Borseth was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Ella (Stevens) Borseth; two daughters, Linda Zahradnik and Penelope Hickey; a son, Richard Borseth; a granddaughter, Molly Zahradnik; and two brothers, Kenneth and Russell Borseth.
