Angeline Tollefson

Angeline Tollefson, 80, of Decorah, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m., at the Madison Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Phillip and Ginny Olson officiating.

Martha Olson was the organist. Soloist Don DiLaura sang "Borning Cry." The congregation sang "How Great Thou Art," "Away in a Manger," "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" and "Be Present".

Ushers were Dean Larson and Carleton Haugen.

Casket bearers were Jack Headington, John Headington, Roger Henningsgaard, Carroll Solum, David Solum and Vernon Solum.

Committal was at the Madison Cemetery. The French & Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Angeline Margaret (Guttormson) Tollefson was born Feb. 25, 1919, near Decorah, the daughter of Casper and Ella (Evenson) Guttormson. She was baptized and confirmed at Madison Lutheran Church.

She attended country school in Madison Township of Winneshiek County.

She married Orville L. Tollefson Feb. 5, 1942, at the Madison Church parsonage.

Angeline worked at Luther College, cleaning the college library, retiring in 1972. She moved to Decorah one year ago.

She was a member of Madison Lutheran Church and its Ladies Circle. She enjoyed feeding the birds and the time around Christmas. Angeline was family-oriented and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters, Lorraine and Harlan Erickson of Decorah, Shirley and Donald Housker of Mabel, Minn., and Janet and Bernard Teslow of Decorah; one son, Lyle and Kathryn Tollefson of Decorah; 15 grandchildren, Lynn Halweg, Michael Erickson, Jim Erickson, Renae Erickson, Teresa Kappus, Jeffrey Housker, Duane Nelson, Jeremy Tollefson, Brenda Spilde, Valerie Tollefson, Tammy Tangen, Todd Teslow, Travis Teslow, Ricky Tollefson and Kelly Wheelock; and 18 great-grandchildren, Autumn, David, Kristopher, Jakob, Disa, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Desiree, Dallas, Destiny, Lynsey, Tory, Bret, Trevor, Emily, Nicklaus and Justin.

Angeline Tollefson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville, who died in 1987; one son, Dale, who died in December of 1991; one grandson, Terry Housker, who died in September of 1991; and one sister, Esther Solum.
