Lloyd Berge
Lloyd Berge, 79, of Decorah, died Thursday, May 17, 2001 at the Oneota Riverview Care Facility in Decorah following a short illness.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 21 at 11 a.m. at Glenwood Lutheran Church, rural Decorah, with Rev. Susan Debner officiating.
Organist Kathy Tollefsrud provided music. Soloist lona Crawford sang "Den store hvide flok" ("Behold the Host"). Congregational hymns "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Amazing Grace".
Casket bearers were Mark Peterson, Doug Sturtz, Bernell Tollefsrud, Steve Larson, Marv Larson, Marc Tangen, Dave Snell, Larry Headington and Todd Kaeser.
Burial was In the Glenwood East Cemetery, rural Decorah. French and Balik Funeral Home of Decorah handled arrangements.
Lloyd Harold "Butch" Berge, was born May 24, 1921 in rural Decorah, the son of Henry and Nora (Lovstuen) Berge.
He attended country school.
Lloyd Berge farmed in Frankville and Glenwood Townships and also helped other farmers.
In the late 1970s he moved to Decorah and did yard work, shoveling and continued to do farm work.
Lloyd Berge enjoyed playing cards, and he was a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Marjorie Peterson Dehning of Decorah; LuVerne and Virgil Snell of Decorah and Caryl and Dean Larson of Decorah; 10 nieces and nephews; 24 great-nieces and nephews and two great-great nephews.
Lloyd Harold Berge was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Nora Berge and two brothers-in-law, Selmer Peterson and Harold Denning.
