Elsie Sophie (Christensen) Bergeson

Elsie Bergeson, 88, died Nov. 29, 2000 at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home in West Union, with the Rev. Dennis Hugdahi
officiating.

Interment was at the West Union Cemetery. Burnham-Wood Funeral Home of West Union handled the arrangements.

Elise Sophie (Christensen) Bergeson was born on May 4, 1912 to Jens and Louise (Niemann) Christensen near West Union. She was baptized on April 7, 1918 at the Auburn Church by Rev. G. Meyer. Her sponsor was Minnie Newman. She attended country school to the 8th grade.

On Oct. 19, 1946, she was united in marriage to Milfred Bergeson in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived near West Union all of their
married lives, where Elsie Bergeson was a homemaker.

Elsie Bergeson loved animals, especially her pet dogs, sheep and cats.

A resident of the Sunrise Guest Home in Fredericksburg for many years, Elsie Bergeson entered the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah about eight months ago.

Elsie Bergeson is survived by her husband, Milfred of the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, and nieces and nephews.

Elsie Sophie (Christensen) Bergeson was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, George and Edward Christensen, one sister, Edna Ruroden, and a nephew, Steven Christensen.
