Eileen Marie O'Brien
Eileen Marie O'Brien, 89, of Bluffton, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah after a long illness.
A funeral mass was held Monday, Aug. 7, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Bluffton, with the Rev. Hank Charipar officiating.
Alan Sensor was the organist. Soloist Dan Silhacek sang "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Casket bearers were Tom Webb, Steve Webb, Nancy White, Mike Webb, Karen Hageman and Jerome McCabe.
Interment was at the St. Bridget's Catholic Cemetery, Bluffton. The French & Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Eileen Marie O'Brien was born Feb. 23, 1911, near Bluffton, the daughter of Patrick and Amelia (Bergmann) O'Brien.
She attended country school and worked for St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., for 25 years. Before moving into the Aase Haugen Home, she lived in the Goose Island Apartments.
Eileen enjoyed her flowers, knitting and crocheting. She will be remembered as always saying prayers for everyone and for being a special person.
Survivors include one sister, Ruth and Ronald Webb of Burr Oak; six nieces and nephews, Jerome and wife Carol McCabe of Albany, Ga., Karen Hageman and husband Ron of Burr Oak, Nancy White and husband Richard of Bluffton, Steve Webb and wife Deb of Byron, Minn., Mike Webb and wife Sue of Rochester, Minn., and Tom Webb and wife Diane of Pine Island, Minn.
Eileen O'Brien was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Margaret O'Brien and Charlotte McCabe; and one brother, John O'Brien.
