Norman Lee

Norman Kenneth Lee, 87, of Decorah, died at the Aase Haugen Home Wednesday, March 29, 2000.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 3, at 11 a.m., at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Decorah, with the Rev. Kim Smith officiating.

Paul Bruvold was the organist. Congregational hymns were "Beautiful Savior," "O Sacred Head, Now Wounded" and "The Lord's My Shepherd."

Casket bearers were Keith Lee, Jens Lee, Donald Nesteby, Dean Hagen, Harvey Houck and Gene Vicker.

Burial was at the Washington Lutheran Cemetery. The Fjelstul Funeral home handled arrangements.

Norman was born July 23, 1912, in Bloomfield Township of Winneshiek County, the son of Knudt and Hilda (Vick) Lee. He was baptized Sept. 1, 1912.

He graduated from Ossian High School in 1930 and then graduated from bookkeeping school.

Norman worked as a farm laborer. He was employed with the Civilians Conservation Corp. until discharged to accept employment as a painter and an interior decorator.

Then he served as Winneshiek County auditor until drafted into the United States Army, where he served from 1942-45. Norman was treasurer of Winneshiek County from 1948-50.

He also farmed in Frankville Township of Winneshiek County, was a bookkeeper for Bruening Rock Products and a salesman for National Motor Club. Norman retired in 1980.

He married Marjorie Christen July 20, 1950 at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church. Norman was a member of that parish, where he served as church treasurer. Norman was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; one son, Kevin and wife Carrie of Decorah; one daughter, Laura of Decorah; two grandchildren and two step-children; four step-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Eileene Tyler of Memphis, Tenn.

Norman Lee was preceded in death by his parents.
