WILLIAM LOVEN, 82, of Decorah, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, at Oneota Riverview Care Facility in Decorah of complications from cancer.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. , at Glenwood Lutheran Church in rural Decorah, with burial in Glenwood South Cemetery, with full military rites.

The Fjelstul Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Visitation will be held at the home Tuesday beginning one hour before services.

Survivors include three sisters, Margaret Feuerhelm and Irene Allison of Waukon and Evelyn Ode of Decorah.

William Loven

William Loven, 82, of Decorah, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, at Oneota Riverview Care Facility.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 11 a.m., at the Glenwood Lutheran Church of rural Decorah, with the Rev. Bernie Oebser officiating.

Connie Bolson was the organist. The congregation sang "Abide with Me" and "Nearer My God to Thee." Special greetings were given by Wayne Wasta.

Casket bearers were Jack Allison, Jerome Allison, Jim Allison, Richard Loven, Jeff Ode and Giles Teslow.

Burial was at the Glenwood South Cemetery with full military rites by Helof-Holm V.F.W. Post No. 1977 and Bematz-Symonds American Legion Post No. 163.

The Fjelstul Funeral Home handled arrangements.

William was born Nov. 27, 1916, in Rushford, Minn., the son of Albert and Anna (Fortun) Loven. He attended Waukon High School.

He served in the United States Air Force during World War II as a mechanic stationed in Korea. After the war, he stayed in the service as a career. William became a staff sergeant.

He received the American Theater Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal and Bronze Service Star.

After retiring from the Air Force, William worked on several farms in the Decorah area. During his later years, he resided at Oneota Riverview Care Facility.

He never married.

William was a lifelong member of Glenwood Lutheran Church. He was baptized there Dec. 13, 1916, and confirmed there April 26, 1931.

Survivors include three sisters, Margaret and Leonard Feuerhelm of Waukon, Irene Allison of Waukon and Evelyn and Lester Ode of Decorah.

William Loven was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marian Loven; and two brothers, Vernon and Roger Loven.
