Irene Cooper

Irene Copper, 94, of Spillville, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah after an illness.

A funeral mass was held Monday, March 1, at 11 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, with the Rev. Donald Hawes officiating.

Doris Thompson was the organist. Dan Silhacek was the soloist.

Casket bearers were Bob Kovarik, Charles Klimesh, Norbert Tierney,
Robert Lentz, Dick Woodard and Jerry Balik.

Interment was at the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. The Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Irene was born May 9, 1904, the daughter of Hiram and Rosalia (Kapler) Cooper. She was a lifelong resident of Spillville and never married.

Irene taught in Burr Oak from 1925-26, at East Side in Decorah from 1926- 63, and at John Cline in Decorah from 1963-69.

She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church.

There are no immediate survivors.
