Elizabeth Hemesath
Elizabeth A. Hemesath, 19, of Clermont died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Elgin.
An 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by the Rev. Dale Rausch and the Rev. Jim Brokman on Monday, Aug. 9, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Clermont.
The Mass servers were Jesse Matt, Tanner Jacobsen and Elizabeth Goddard.
Lectors were Emily Schmitt and Jennifer Schmitt.
Carrying the Offertory gifts were Kelsey Williams, Joy Skinner, Molly Schmitt, Amy Schmitt, Destiny Kapler, Josie Hemesath and Sage Matt.
Providing music were Kathy Fassbinder and Maureen Johnson with vocalists Deb Matt and Bob Fassbinder.
Interment was in St. Francis DeSales Cemetery in Ossian. Casket bearers were Dustin Baumler, Tanner Baumler, Alex Schmitt, Ryan Buchheit, Colin Hemesath, Damien Matt, Evan Baumler, Lucas Schmitt, Jacob Harm, Darin Buchheit and Timothy Schmitt.
Conway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Elizabeth Ann Hemesath was born Dec. 2, 1990, in West Union. She was the daughter of Russell and Mary Jane (Schmitt) Hemesath. She was baptized in her faith on Dec. 16, 1990, at St. Francis DeSales Church in Ossian and confirmed in May 2007 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Clermont.
Having grown up in Clermont, Elizabeth attended school at Valley Community School. After her graduation in May 2009, she then attended Northeast Iowa Community College for one and a half years and was planning to attend Iowa State University this fall to major in psychology.
Playing guitar and singing were among Elizabeth's favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed drama and dance. She kept herself busy and liked being with friends and family. She also enjoyed working at Fassbinder's Apiary, assisting with the honeybee operation.
Elizabeth was recently preceded in death by both grandfathers, Jack Hemesath and Henry Schmitt. Her great-grandparents John and Iola Hemesath, Philip and Florence Schmitz, William and Rose Schwickerath, and Joe and Anna Schmitt also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her parents, Russell and Mary Hemesath of Clermont; two sisters, Rebecca and Gabrielle; two brothers, Ben and Brian; her grandmothers Karen Hemesath and Imelda Schmitt; uncles and aunts, Ken and Mary Ann Schmitt, Rich and Theresa Kapler, Roger and Teresa Schmitt, Steven and Connie Schmitt, Diane Schmitt, Rick and Renee Matt, Jeff and Naomi Harm, Dave and Natalie Knutson, Doug and Jenny Hemesath.
Also surviving are cousins Joy (Kapler) and Matt Skinner, Kelsey (Kapler) and Demetrius Williams, Destiny Kapler; Jennifer, Alex, Lauren and Julia Schmitt, Timothy and Rachel Schmitt; Emily, Amy, Lucas and Molly Schmitt; Ryan and Darin Buchheit, Jacob Harm; Damien, Jesse and Sage Matt; Dustin, Evan and Tanner Baumler; Colin and Josie Hemesath.
