Loretta Blong

Loretta Blong, 84, of Fort Atkinson, died suddenly Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Oct. 26 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas, with Rev. Carl Schmitt, Rev. Frank Perry, Rev. Allen Schmitt, Rev. Marvin Salz, Rev. Ray Ludwig, Msgr. Don Heineman and Msgr. Leander Reicks officiating.

Interment will be at St. Luke's Catholic Cemetery in St. Lucas.

Casket bearers are Don Blong, Del Schmitt, Peter Schmitt, Merle Blong, Henry Best, Greg Karnik, Andrew Winters and Nick Winters. Mass servers are Andy and Willie Schmitt and Katie Croatt, and ushers are Victor Croatt and Irvin Blong.

Music will be provided by Lorraine Kuennen on organ and the St. Luke's choir. Jim Schneberger will serve as lector.

Loretta Blong was born May 25, 1916, to Matt and Philomena (Bodensteiner) Blong on the family farm near St. Lucas. She attended St. Luke's Catholic School in St. Lucas and she worked on the family farm all her life. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking and baking.

She looked after her nephew, Herbert, on the farm, and enjoyed the company of her dog, Blackie. She was a very special aunt to all of her nieces and nephews and was wonderful to all her neighbors. She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and the Rosary Society.

Survivors include her brother, Wendelin Blong of Milwaukee, Wis.; several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Loretta Blong was preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Philomena Blong; 11 brothers and sisters, John Blong, Carl Blong, Theresa Perry, Margaret Schmitt, Bill Blong, Cecelia Schmitt, Emily Best, Anna Schmitt, Luke Blong, George Blong and Angeline Winters; and her nephew, Herbert.
